My many thanks to those of
you who took time to comment. P.S. My buddy who helped me today does woodworking as a hobby, but he's a real purist and very demanding of himself...... I showed him the call and he said it was one of the nicest pieces or work he'd ever seen, and it takes a lot to impress him..... I haven't used mine yet but it is a thing of beauty. I got the maple burl and couldn't be happier with it. I need to do what you are doing John and that is get out and practice Mine is cocobolo wood, a real dandy......and I found out by moving the rubber piece on the reed only a fraction, I mean a fraction of an inch, you can make more sounds than a pipe organ on Sunday morning........this thing is really a work of art.............. It is indeed and outstanding wildlife call. Everyone I show it to also comments on the beauty of it. Works great too. I'm looking forward to recording some overlays with it to my FOXPRO. Well, I P-med buckweat a few weeks past and asked if he would be interested in letting me try one of his fancy new calls out. He was gracious enough to send me one. Well, let me tell you, those pictures do not give it justice. It has to be the finest hand call I have come accross! Not only is the workmanship first class but the function is the finest I have ever seen! It is the first true "tunable" caller that allows the user to adjust tone & pitch , unlike most callers manufactured that have "fixed" reeds. Thanks again buckweat and keep up the fine work! BW Received my call today and all I can say is awesome . This call has a tremendous sound and the craftsmanship is outstanding . Thanks a bunch! Ernie I received the call today and it’s without a doubt the most beautiful call I ever laid eyes on. The fit of the barrel to the voice channel assembly is outstanding. It truly is a work of art. As soon as I open the box I had to try the call as is and out came the sound of an adult cottontail rabbit distress. It was best rabbit I ever heard. I removed the barrel I placed the reed toward the front of the call. By puffing air over the reed of the call it made outstanding field mouse distress sounds. Then I did baby cottontail distress sounds. I then fluttered my tongue right behind my front teeth; The O ring was still in the front position and out came outstanding woodpecker distress sounds. I pushed the O ring all the way in and out came the sound of a gravely cottontail. This sound was quite penetrating and it traveled far. You really did a great job designing the barrel. It works just like a megaphone to bellow out the sound. I removed the barrel and using just the voice channel and the voice channel barrel I did outstanding puppy whines, KIYI’S, and coyote howls. You really should market your call. If I were you I would set up a booth at the PA Trapper Association rendezvous in June, PA Trappers Association flea market at Maryville in September, and the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in February 2006. That how great the call is! I was telling my daughter what an outstanding call you made. She suggested that I place all of the sounds I can make on your call as a part of your post on my web site. This will show everyone just what the call is capable of doing. She due home around May 21 so if you do not mind we can do that for you. I can do some voice loads on all the sounds I reference above using your call and post them to the forum under the Buckwheat custom predator call post. Also If I were you to I would visit all of the big hunting stores in the area and ask if they would like to buy some of your customs calls. Gander Mountain, BASSPRO, and Cabelas, Kinsey’s, ETC. They already sale custom duck and goose calls why not your outstanding predator calls. Thanks again for providing me with this excellent call. I know I will call in all predators with the call. After I bag a few I will have to send the pictures to you for your gallery. Jim AKA Uncle Buck Well, I got my call in the mail today, nice protective tube and it got here in great shape. This call is amazing in it's simplicity and really "engineered". Buckwheat, you outdid yourself on this one!! My hat's off to you and your fine work. Can't wait to begin using it. Thanks, John
